TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 8-port Gigabit Unmanaged Desktop Switch , Plastic Case

Easy to set up
Plugged the leads from my PC's into this Switch and it works, easy! I did a test of moving a 3.5GB file from one computer to another, I had a speed of 30 - 32 MB/Second with this 1Gbps Ethernet Switch. (Approx 2 - 2.5 Minutes). I did the same test with the same file from the same PC to the same PC but through my Router, 100Mb/Second and it transferred at a speed of 5 -9 MB/Second, (Approx 7 Minutes +) Strongly recommend it.

NB: To get this speed the Network card in the PC/Laptop also has to be 1Gbps compatible or the speed will be whichever is the slowest.
Really great device - cheap and easy to install
I ran out of Ethernet ports on my ADSL router, so, in order to add more, I bought this. It looks quite cheap, but all you do is plug a patch cable from any of the ports on this device into one of the ports of your router and hey-presto you now have seven extra ports. It just works - no need for cross over leads or anything - just plug it in and away it goes...and the Gigabit LAN is FAR faster than the 100/10 from the router. Just brilliant!
Fine for home use.
I bought this to replace a Netgear Gigabit switch. I've always bought Netgear but heard good things about TP-Link so I decided to give it a try. Firstly looks are not its strong point but this is a functional bit of equipment and usually up on a shelf out of the way but it does look plasticky and a bit cheap. Fortunately, the gubbins inside seems to be up to the job and it has matched the throughput of our Netgear switches all the way. Copying a large file with Jumbo packets between a PC and our NAS drive gives a respectable 18 megs/second which is about the same as our Netgear stuff manages. Doesn't even get warm under load which is reassuring, our Netgear switches can get quite warm to the touch.

Would I buy another? Yes, absolutlely.
