D-LINK Powerline 500M AV Starter Kit

Good Performance
Research on the web gave conflicting results as to which brand was best, but this seemed to come out well overall.

Not disappointed with the result - as with all powerline adapters, these will NOT give you a 500Mbps connection; all devices with provide a link at a lower rate in practice. What matters is relative performance, both to other brands in the same category, and as a fraction of the 'advertised' max.

I'm getting (according to the supplied utility) a connection of between 250-300Mbps on the downstairs circuit - this depends on the time of day, it's lower when lots of electrical appliances are switched on.

This drops to 100-150Mbps when the adapters are separated by two floors. This still beats a wireless connection by a long way.
D-Link
It does just what I need. I live in a tall house (four stories) and the wireless network struggled - speed depended heavily on weather conditions.
I had been a little worried about a powerline link because the various computers are on different ring circuits, though not separated by transformers, and I could not find any mention of this on the [...]
But I took the plunge and there were no problems. Excellent.
Works Great
This product worked as expected, it was capable of streaming 1080p Video to another room upstairs as that was the main reason why i bought it.
The installation was quite simple, plugged both ends into the power socket and presto... just worked.
Very Pleased with the purchase.
