I bought this unit to improve my laptops poor WiFi performance. More than impressed with how sensitive it is, the laptops internal WiFi has little signal through a couple of walls, this pulls in a near 100% signal strength and has great real world data through put speed. The included WiFi utility is also very useful, it shows many details not normally available on speed, signal strength and available channels. My entire system at home and at work is now TP Link. There stuff just works as advertised and cost far less than "traditional" brands which don't work as well.

Having previously reviewed a cheap and pretty shoddy chewing-gum size TP-Link adaptor I didn't think I'd strike lucky here, but realising that it's a larger unit with protruding aerials shouldn't have alarmed me. Yes, it's not as attractive but running it under Linux was hassle-free. Detected and didn't suddenly require a reset.

Don't go for pretty, get practical; get this.
Works with your Humax Freetime Box too
Saw that this was recommended on Satbuyer for the Humax HDR-1000S receiver. It's under half the price of the Humax wi-fi dongle so thought it was worth a go. It's not the prettiest piece of equipment but that didn't matter once it was placed behind my TV Stand.

As far as performance goes, it has worked perfectly with my Freetime box. I get 86% signal strength and I can now stream all catch-up services with no problems. All I had to do was connect it to the rear USB port, restart the Freetime box, select my wireless network and I was up and running.

So, if you've just got a Freetime box and are looking for a cheaper alternative to Humax's Wi-fi dongle, this is a good substitute.
