Works great, especially for networked storage & printing
I had no problems getting this running.
Just unplugged my old Thompson G router, plugged in the Belkin & entered [...] in my browser and was presented with the settings login.
As someone else mention, initially the password is set to nothing !
I just entered my ISP login/password and selected PPPoA and the WAN came up without any problems.
Setting up wireless was easy - there are 3 methods (push buttton, auto and manual) - I used the latter 2 to connect 2 laptops, my Wii and Blackberry
The main reason I bought a new router was to get networked printing and/or storage for backups
The router has a single usb port and I hoped I could plug a hub into it to get simultaneous access to my print and usb hard drives (the documentation made no mention whether this was supported)
To my delight, it worked first time with my cheapo 4-port hub so I now have a networked printer (Canon Pixma) and 2 usb disks.
You need to install the Belkin...
Not fit for purpose - yet
I bought this with some trepadation as there were no reviews yet. The set up seemed simple enough. Connect it up, run the cd. Enter username and password shown on the attached sticker.... and that's where the problems started. Sorry it told me,it didn't recognise the password... ring Belkin support. After 2-3 hours of "support" they managed to get me a wireless connection and I was even able to use one of my printers wirelessly but the external hard drive and connecting another laptop were beyond them. Eventually they concluded, as I had thought from the start, there was a problem with the software. Download the software from their website, was the advice. Good idea, or at least it would have been, if the software had been there. Next time I contacted them they told me they were updating the UK website so get it from the US one. Not there either. A month later it is going back and that's it for me with Belkin.
Works well
This is my first wireless modem router. Set it up and loaded the supplied CD. Entered the supplied user name and password. Did not recognise the password. Spend two hours on the support line getting it to work. Next day was not working showing a red light again. Phoned the support line, spend nearly another two hours to get it working. Next day the same thing happen again. Only on the third attempt was I told about upgrading the software. On each occasion on the support they had be doing all sorts of random instructions with long pauses. I really don't feel they know what they are doing and they were difficult to understand. They had me unplugging, resetting, factory restore etc. all sorts of instruction until it worked. The good thing was I became expert at using the router setup page (type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar). So when it happened again I had it sorted out myself in about ten minutes. I was on the verge of returning it when I worked out what was going wrong. I...
